First Grade Portfolios
5 days left…So, we are working on portfolios. What I do is collect the writing that my kids do all year, all the way back to the first piece of writing they did when they started 1st grade and I gather it all together and have them choose the pieces of writing they are most proud of to include in their portfolios. The portfolio also includes reading logs and math achievement. Usually for the cover page I have some sort of artwork. This year though I decided to change it up a bit and after working on adjectives for a loooooong time, my kids were able to take the letters in their names and find a describing word for each letter. They did an amazing job and obviously they didn’t always follow the adjective rule, but they were able to write something about themselves that gives the reader more info about the kind of person they are. I LOVE the results. There are a few below to give you an idea.
